HIGHLIGHTS

Trip Highlights

Wake up on a houseboat on Dal Lake as the morning mist lifts off the water. Step into a Shikara and watch the floating vegetable market come alive before the rest of the valley stirs. This is how Kashmir begins.

Ride the Gulmarg Gondola up to Apharwat Peak at 4,000 metres for panoramic views of the Himalayan range. In winter, the slopes are blanketed in deep snow. In summer, wide green meadows stretch out below you in every direction.

Pahalgam operates at a completely different pace from the rest of the valley. Spend a day moving between Betaab Valley and Aru Valley, with a picnic lunch by the Lidder River in between. No agenda, no rushing. Just Kashmir at its quietest.

Spend a day in Sonamarg, where the Sindh River cuts through wide alpine meadows framed by dramatic, snow-lined peaks. Walk towards Thajiwas Glacier, breathe in the sharp mountain air, and experience a side of Kashmir that feels raw, expansive, and untouched.

Unforgettable Travel Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival & Dal Lake

Your driver meets you at Srinagar Airport for the transfer to Dal Lake. Check in, take the afternoon slowly, and board a Shikara at sunset for an hour on the water. Dinner at your houseboat or along Boulevard Road.

Day 2

Gardens & Old Srinagar

Start at Nishat Bagh and Shalimar Bagh before the tour groups arrive. If visiting between late March and mid-April, the Tulip Garden is the headline stop: go at sunrise for the best light and smallest crowds. The afternoon works well for the Old City food walk around Jamia Masjid for kahwah, Wazwan, and Nadru.

Day 3

Gulmarg Gondola

Leave Srinagar by 7:30 AM for the 1.5-hour drive to Gulmarg, with your Gondola tickets pre-booked. In winter skiing and snow activities are available locally; in summer the meadow walk around Meenmargh is the quieter option.

Day 4

To Pahalgam

The 2.5-hour drive from Srinagar passes through the saffron fields of Pampore and apple orchards before arriving at Pahalgam on the banks of the Lidder River. Check in, have lunch, and spend the afternoon by the water with no fixed agenda. If your hotel offers an evening bonfire, take it.

Day 5

Betaab & Aru Valleys

Betaab Valley, 15 km from town, is wide open with snow-capped peaks on all sides; Aru Valley, 12 km further, is quieter with better walking trails. A picnic lunch by the Lidder River between the two is the highlight of the day. Keep the afternoon loose and explore the local market before dinner.

Day 6

Yusmarg / Sonamarg

Yusmarg sits in a dense pine forest 47 km from Srinagar and is far less commercialised than Gulmarg, with quiet meadow walks and genuine seclusion. Access is confirmed a few days before your visit, with Sonamarg held as a contingency via the Z-Morh Tunnel. Return to Srinagar for your last night.

Day 7

Departure from Srinagar

A morning walk along Dal Lake Boulevard and a stop at the market near Lal Chowk for saffron, dry fruits, and pashmina before departure. Srinagar Airport is 15 to 20 minutes from the main hotel areas; allow extra buffer in peak season. Your driver will transfer you to the airport for your onward flight, bringing the Kashmir journey to a close.
