Day 1

Land before noon and we drive directly — 220km, roughly 7 hours northwest through Assam's tea estates before crossing into Arunachal Pradesh at the Balemu Check Post. Late arrivals overnight in Guwahati and leave at 6am the next morning. Shergaon is a Sherdukpen tribal village in dense pine forest — small, quiet, and nothing like what most people picture when they think of Northeast India.
