Six Senses Paro is the most architecturally distinctive of the five Six Senses lodges in Bhutan, set within and around reconstructed historic stone ruins in the upper Paro Valley. Designed to integrate with the existing structure, the lodge combines traditional Bhutanese elements with Six Senses’ contemporary design language. The property offers suites and villas arranged across a hillside, with expansive views over the valley. It serves as one of the primary bases for exploring Paro, including access to Bhutan’s most iconic site, Tiger’s Nest Monastery.
The defining feature of Six Senses Paro is its setting within stone ruins, which shape both the architecture and the guest experience. Unlike other luxury lodges in Bhutan, the design here is intentionally dramatic — with pathways, courtyards and dining spaces built around stone walls and open-air sections of the structure. The lodge also places a strong emphasis on experiential dining and wellness, with curated meals and spa programmes rooted in Bhutanese traditions.
A mix of suites and villas positioned across a hillside property, designed to maximise valley views. Interiors combine natural materials with contemporary finishes, featuring large windows, open-plan layouts and spacious bathrooms. The Six Senses Spa offers treatments inspired by Bhutanese healing practices, along with wellness programmes tailored to altitude and travel recovery. Dining includes both standard restaurant service and curated experiences within the ruins setting.
The hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang Palphug), accessed via a short drive from the lodge followed by a 2–4 hour hike. The Ruins Regale dining experience — an open-fire Bhutanese meal set within the stone ruins, often accompanied by traditional performances. Guided cultural visits to Paro Dzong and Kyichu Lhakhang. Wellness consultations and spa therapies designed around Bhutanese healing traditions.
March to May and September to November offer the most stable weather and clear mountain views. Six Senses Paro is typically combined with Thimphu, Punakha and Gangtey as part of the brand’s multi-lodge journey across Bhutan, or used as the entry and exit point for shorter itineraries.
